The Diplomat - in Halley Stevensons Waxed Canvas

After many years of building the Ancoats’ Totes, this is the first time we’ve used Halley Stevensons Waxed Cotton! A 405gsm waxed canvas with a solid, structured hand. Not overly stiff, but with enough weight to hold its shape and take a beating.

It works so well with Ancoats’ clean style and classic labelling. We’ve used a lightweight Halley Stevensons waxed cotton on the lining too, making this an elevated lifestyle piece - but with that Ancoats Bag Company adaptable architecture underneath!

It works so well with Ancoats’ clean style and classic labelling. We’ve used a Halley Stevensons waxed canvas on the lining too, making this an elevated lifestyle piece - but with that classic Diplomat architecture.

The construction has been tweaked to get the best from the waxed fabric, with the addition of a soft padding to the front pocket panel for a “quilted” feel, and the front pocket also then lined. The fabric and construction change the whole look and feel of the Ancoats 4-way tote. The Waxed Diplomat is also the first time you will be seeing the new version of the front panel. Now a zipped full width front pocket. Same look, upgraded functionality.

The fabric is really throwing the big shapes here: Aesthetically, the Waxed Cotton Diplomat has a very different impact.

It has a fully lined interior space, using a lightweight Sage Green Halley Stevensons waxed cotton that’s “back coated” to mitigate the risks of the transfer of traditional wax. With a dedicated laptop stow area, the Ancoats Diplomat is perfectly specced for your laptop or tablet and smaller peripherals…not forgetting the Admin panel with a couple of pen slots and some slip pocketing on the inside front.

Back to the outer, you’ll find smooth black Nylon webbing, and a YKK Aquaguard zipper on the main access, as well as the body fabric baffle behind the zip. A 50mm Nylon webbing shoulder strap is supplied as standard and hooks up to the Aircraft Grade Aluminium ‘D’ rings asymmetrically tucked away on the Diplomat.

The “DIPLOMAT” is one of a pair of fully featured stand-alone product to follow up the Tote. Primarily, it’s a laptop or tablet and business style EDC unit. Like the Tote, this is a build-to-order product with multiple variations on two formats.

The Diplomat is a Top Loader(AKA a Toaster)

It’s a top loading style with a zip along the top that wraps a couple of inches down the sides. This gives you good access for stowing your laptop into the full padded laptop section, as well as access to the admin panel on the front side.

Both serve as a side carry with short asymmetric grab handles, but can also carry as a shoulder bag, with offset tuck away aluminium ‘D’ rings.

Both also feature a luggage pass-through on the back.

Saving the best to last, the Ancoats Diplomat ticks an extra box…it works together with the Ancoats 4-Way tote. If you’re carrying the tote and want to pack a few more things, the Attaché will piggy-back the tote to give you one piece of combined carry.
