After many years of building the Ancoats Totes, this is the first time we’ve used Halley Stevensons Waxed Cotton! A 405gsm waxed canvas with a solid, structured hand. Not overly stiff, but with enough weight to hold its shape and take a beating.

It works so well with Ancoats’ clean style and classic labelling. We’ve used a lightweight Halley Stevensons waxed cotton on the lining too, making this an elevated lifestyle piece - but with that Ancoats Bag Company adaptable architecture underneath!

The construction has been tweaked to get the best from the waxed fabric, with the addition of a soft padding to the front pocket panel for a “quilted” feel, and the front pockets also then lined. The fabric and construction change the whole look and feel of the Ancoats 4-way tote.

So, aesthetically, it has a very different impact.

Functionally, we have the same 4-way convertible carry, with Fidlock magnetic hardware to keep the technical aspect of an Ancoats tote right on point.

Either size will fit a 16” MacBook Pro, power pack and cables and an A4 sketch pad or four, a Utility Case or two and a small rolled up jacket. And your lunch. Standard will give you the lowest profile daily carry option, or go for large if you might want to throw out your work stuff, and use it to do a decent food stuffs shop. A loaf of bread is easily swallowed and the bag will still zip up comfortably. It’s a work-horse!

The tote has a fully lined interior space, using a lightweight Sage Green Halley Stevensons waxed cotton that’s “back coated” to mitigate the risks of the transfer of traditional wax. With a dedicated laptop stow area, including a pair of zipped drop pockets for wallet, keys cables etc. the Ancoats tote is perfectly specced for your daily carry…not forgetting the Admin panel with a couple of pen slots and some slip pocketing on the inside front.

Back to the outer, you’ll find smooth black Nylon webbing, and a YKK Aquaguard zipper on the main access. The front tote handle is adjustable via a matte black Aluminium adjuster and those Fidlock buckles on the backpack straps provide adjustability and adaptability. A detachable 50mm Nylon webbing shoulder strap is supplied as standard and hooks up to the Aircraft Grade Aluminium ‘D’ rings on the back of the tote.

The base has two layers of body fabric, with a 3mm PE closed cell foam padding which extends up the rear to “take the edge off” when carry on your back and give a little structure.

Two exterior drop pockets are great for an umbrella and a bottle, or the Ancoats Utility Cases, which are a perfect fit.
